Our Mission
The political landscape of rural America has shifted significantly over the past two decades, moving from a Democratic stronghold to a predominantly Republican one. This shift can be seen in various parts of the country, where rural areas that once supported Democratic candidates now lean heavily Republican.

Historically, rural areas were often Democratic due to their strong ties to labor unions, particularly in agricultural and manufacturing sectors. The Democratic Party’s advocacy for social safety nets and economic policies that benefited working-class Americans resonated with rural voters.

Now, many Democratic leaders have all but given up. The Democratic Party's loss of ground in rural areas over the past two decades can be partly attributed to a perception that they have "given up" on these regions. This sentiment has emerged due to several strategic decisions and broader shifts in the party’s priorities and messaging, which have often focused more on urban and suburban issues.

Our job is to win back Rural America by directly supporting candidates in rural races who might not have access to support from urban and suburban focused Democratic Political Action Committees.

We believe it's not too late for Democrats to win in Rural America. In fact, we believe it's essential to sustaining the future of the Democratic Party.

But it's not enough to just invest in rural Democrats who are running for federal office. If Democrats truly want to succeed in Rural America in the coming decades, we need to invest in down-ballot candidates. State House, City Council, School Board – today's County Commissioner is tomorrow's U.S. Senator.

Our mission is to support Democratic and progressive candidates at all levels – on every hill and in every holler – to rebuild Democrats' stronghold in Rural America, to protect Rural Americans from Republican extremism, and to invest in the next generation of progressive rural leaders.
